Revit Name Automation for Consistent Naming Conventions
The Rename Pro Settings window is your primary workspace for defining, testing, and managing Family Type naming rules in Revit. It is also the central hub where you can batch rename all Family Types for the selected Categories.
The Settings window opens when you launch the Rename Pro add-in from the Revit Add-ins tab. The main purpose of this interface is to manage your naming conventions (including saving, importing, exporting, and loading naming rules), identify duplicate Family Types by reviewing generated names, and execute the final renaming process.
The Settings window is logically divided into three main groups, designed to follow a natural left-to-right and top-to-bottom workflow:
The workflow progresses as follows: Select Categories → Choose Parameters → Define Name Rules → Preview New Names → Execute Rename.
This layout and rule definition flow is inspired by the native Revit PDF Naming Rules dialog, making it instantly familiar to Revit users.
The Title Bar behaves like any standard application window, allowing you to minimize, maximize, and close the interface. Note that the Settings window is modal, meaning you cannot interact with the main Revit window while it is open.
The Status Strip at the bottom of the window provides essential information and actions for managing your settings. It is divided into two sections:
