Getting Started with Rename Pro
Welcome to Rename Pro! This guide will help you get up and running quickly.
Installation
- Download the installer:
- Close Revit.
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
- If you get a SmartScreen warning, click "Run anyway".
- Open Revit.
- You will see dialog "Security - Unsigned Add-In"
- Click "Always Load" to always load the add-in.
Activation
- In depth about license activation read in License Activation page.
- Go to Add-Ins tab on Revit and click on Rename Pro icon.
- First time you run Rename Pro you will see a About dialog asking for Activation.
- Input license key sent in email and click on Activate.
- Choose what data to share with us by checking appropriate checkboxes:
- Share Anonymous Usage Data
- Share Detailed Analytics
- Share Rename Pro Settings
- Share Error Reports
- Click on Close to close the dialog.
- Click on Rename Pro icon again to launch the addin.
First launch
- After successful activation and relaunching Rename Pro, you will see default Reset Settings window, with three choices:
- Arch Imperial: Architectural settings with Imperial units.
- Arch Metric: Architectural settings with Metric units.
- Empty: Empty settings and Name Rules.
- Depending on you Revit language settings, you can pick either of them or only Empty.
- These default settings are intended for you to get started quickly.
- You can always change them later by clicking on the Reset button in the main Settings Status Strip under the arrow down ( ▼ ) button. See Settings & Status Strip.
Your First Rename
- Select Categories you want to rename Family Types of.
- Select Parameters for each Category and move them to Name Rules list using arrow ->
- Configure your renaming rules.
- Click the Rename button at the lower right corner.
